Abyssdweller 5e Background (Homebrew)

In the layers of the abyss you’re spawned. There you might been a demon or else a lost soul.

  • Do you have any memories of the time in the Abyss? What have you experienced?
  • Have you received torture or torment in any kind and if yes, was there a reason for that?
  • Were you part of the army of a demon lord? Did you fight against devils or other demons?
  • What is the reason that you are not part of that world anymore?
  • Maybe you found a way out by yourself, someone sent you on a mission, or you were summoned by a cult or other force?

Prerequisite: You must either be native to the abyss or have a good reason, why you were there. You might want to work that out with your DM. Don’t miss our dissenter background 5e.

Feature: Life of torture

Like the dweller of the abyss, almost each and everything and everyone which were around you have been tended towards the chaotic evil nature, which was highly impressed by their aggressiveness and their insatiable desire to destroy and harm too.

Actually, this has combined with your own tendency which is towards the chaotic evil alignment like the abyss-dweller and will enable some of the benefits in terms of the torture.

Whenever the hit points of a creature will become 0 then you might chose to bring it back to life and then torture it (it might be for information or own pleasure) almost at which end, by a result the tortured creature will die immediately.

Of course, you can not torture any creature more than 30 minutes through this method. But, if you do this while in a combat, you can easily move the body away first. Each and every step which you make with the body which costs double the amount of speed.

Whenever, the creature had been killed outright there you’ve two rounds or else 12 seconds to do the above effects, or else you can not bring the life back of that creature. Suppose, if you bring the creature back to life again then you can try to grab its soul and also get it back to the material realm.

Finally, you should be succeeded a DC 13 constitution saving throw, or else the soul is lost.
